Field notes Caespitose palm with 9 stems, the highest ones about 4 m tall and 3 cm in diam. at the distal nodes. Number of leaves in crown of 9. Leaves bifid to irregularly splitting, the entire range present on some individuals. Description of a single leaf: base about 23 cm long, yellow on unexposed parts, light to dark green on exposed parts, margin desintegrating into brown stiff fibres; petiole 6 cm long, blade about 70 cm long, splitting unevenly in 4 pinnae. Nom. vern. "malo" (Apua talkplace)
