Field notes Guariroba or Catolé is the common name. Solitary palm with 3 m x 25-30cm trunk. 15-16 LEAVES in crown, spirally arranged and spreading. Leaf petiole 12-18 cm with fibrous margins but with a fibrous leaf sheath and concave-convex in transection. Leaf rachis 310-380 cm. 139-149 pairs of pinnae which are distributed in clusters of 2-5 along the rachis in several planes. Middle pinnae 67-96 cm x 3.9-5 cm. Androgynous interfoliar INFLORESCENCE with 20-28 cm peduncle and 75-78 cm rachis. 67-83 rachillae with a length of 7-42 cm. Peduncular bract 107-108 cm including a beak of 8-11.5 cm and the expanded or inflated part of the bract measuring 59-60 cm x 26-29 cm. Palm species infrequent in this area. L.R. Noblick & J.L. dos
