Field notes Herb on shaded roadside slope, 30-120 cm tall, basally with stolons but without scaly rhizomes, stems green, leaves green, lower leaf surface occasionally mottled with pale violet, peduncles, pedicels and calyces light green, corolla red outside, inside yellow-red, limb red, filaments and anthers yellow-white, stigma and style yellow-white, stigma and style yellow-cream, capsules dehiscing with 2 fleshy valves and exposing the sticky seed-mass.
