Field notes Herb, flowering plants from secondary vegetation, but sterile plants common on shaded forested slopes, stems violet, basally with long stolons but no scaly rhizomes observed, corolla red outside, basally turning yellow, inside yellow-cream, limb red, lateral and ventral lobes each with 2 purple markings in throat.
