Field notes Some plants occur in a deeply shaded iravine but most in lightopen disturbed vegetation, subshrub, 20-200 cm tall, basally rising from stolons, lower leaf surface green, occasionally purple or mottled with light purple, flowers protandrous, corolla red outside, yellow inside and basally with purple dots, limb red with purple dots, style cream, capsules splitting with 2 fleshy valves and exposing the whole sticky seedmass common.
