| Field notes | Terrestrial in shaded, humid places close to small stream, stems villous, hairs yellow-brown, basally with numerous stolons, scaly rhizomes absent, leaves with deep green upper surface and deep purple lower surface with some lighter green circular areas, corolla deep red outside, ventrally and basally yellow, lobes deep red, throat yellow with red markings, filaments pale yellow, anthers white, nectary yellow, usually of 5 free glands, rarely of 3 free and 2 fused glands, stigma cream.
