Field notes Terrestrial herb, shaded on the forest floor in primary forest. Flowers very red. Leaf strongly green above, light green with a pattern of lighter dots beneath. Nom. Vern.: Awedo tape (Colorado); Hierba balditia (Spanish); Use: For snake bites. Prep.: The leaves are boiled and used both for a hot bath and for a drink.
