| Field notes | 2 m tall shrub in disturbed primary forest. With plenty of spines, which stick and burn unpleasantly. Nom. Vern.: Tini (Colorado); Ortica (Spanish); Use: 1) Used by the women during their menstruation periods. Prep.: The roots are boiled and the decoction is drunk. 2) The leaves are used for calming people with mental disorder. The patient is burnt and stuck with the plant. It is hard to understand the calming effect of this treatment. |
