| Field notes | Shrub, 3 m tall. Berries red. Cultivated. Nom. Vern.: Ballusa tape (Cayapa); Use: The leaves are boiled together with stems of Bani- steriopsis and used for "ayahuasca". It seems to for- tify the hallucinogenic effect of the mixture. Normally the shamans use to add leaves of this plant when making "ayahuasca", but it is not always the case. |
