| Field notes | Herb with gland hairs, flowers red and white. Maasai name: olorrondo Used to give to cows after delivery, when placenta isn't delivered. 4 roots pieces 20 cm long and 6-8 cm thick is boiled in 10 litre of water for half an hour. It is very bitter and has a dark red colour and is mixed with a bit of milk. The cow is not allowed to drink anything before the medicine, which is only given once. It is of same quality as "eluai", but it is used more often as the plant is easier available and the decoction is a bit sweet, so the cows doesn't have to be forced to drink it this decoction. |
