| Field notes | Tree, seeds orange and black. Maasai name: oloponi Seeds are used as beads and wood for beehives, but not one of the best for beehives. Pregnant women with syphilis use it for medicine to protect against contamination of the child. A 20 cm long root piece 6-8 cm thick, chopped in pieces is boiled half an hour in 1/2 litre of water. One cup of the decoction is drunk twice a day for 8 day. The treatment starts at the 5 month of pregnancy and is repeated after three weeks for 8 days. |
