| Field notes | Tree. Maasai name: orupande (also called arpande) Decoction of bark is used for tea, for "olomelok" and for calves and goat kids to make the milk go further. For "olomelok is two pieces as big as an open hand used for 2 litre, which is mixed with 3 litre of milk. The decoction is red and a bit sweet. Women at the boma of ole Sanguyan: This is really the best species for "olomelok" 1/2 handful of bark of root is boiled for a few minutes in 1 1/2 litre of water and mixed with the same amount of milk. They are not going travelling for collection of the plant, only collected when one pass by. |
