| Field notes | Low grass. Maasai name: orbo It is only found in the highland. It never gets higher than 6-8 cm and is the most important kind of low grass around the boma, (ca. 80%). It is an important grass at this time of the year, even though it is low, but it is tender and easy to pick up by for the cattle, and don't let them get thin. It is mostly eaten from begining of may until the rain comes in December. In begining of the rain a part of it is still dry and the cattle eat it until it gets complete green, then they don't prefere it any longer even though it doesn't harm them, but they seem to get fat up with it. |
