Field notes Growing in tussocks. Maasai name: orkujita onyokie (orkujita ~ grass, o-nyokie ~ to be red) It is good grass for the cattle while growing from the first rain in the short rain season until the middle of the rain season where it start to flower. It is not good for in the dry season, the cattle don't become healthy by eaten it, and it is only eaten if other species are not available. The long grass is used for thatching of roof.
