Field notes Tree. Maasai name: olkiloriti Decoction of woodpieces with bark is usedto mix with meatsoup, particularly used in meatcamps as it stimulate digestion. Extract of woodpieces with crushed bark is extracted in water in some minutes. The extract, called "olouni" is drunk in meatcamps and provoke diarrhea. Wounds caused by its thorns easily swell and get infected. They are called "eirowua" and are considered as "hot" in the sense dangerous. Sap of tender pods are used to place on wounds. Used to provoke diarrhoea, 3-4 rootpieces is boiled in 1/2 litre of ox urine, is very strong and by causing to much diarrhoea sourmilk or better fat of a sheep is given to stop the diarrhoea. Used for fence around the boma. Women at the boma of ole Sanguyan, Sendui: Used for washing of women right after delivery. Koto kunyinya Nailole (called Ngilole), traditional midwife, Olmekeke: Decoction of plant is used to wash women after delivery. She bathes when it suits her in the hut in the room used to keep cattle and goats during nights. Plant species selected in accordance to tradition. Saningo ole Nakuroi, Ndeyan: Wood is burned and grained to a "bitter entasimi", but it not strong. (Can bitter entasimi be used in armanet?)It is used in a stick called "armanet", where it is placed i a hole, which is closed with wax. The "armanet" is used to surround the boma, carried by the herd boy in the morning and evening while the cattle are in, to protect them against wild animal and harm by people. The "armanet" can be made of "olmoswa", "alarrami", "armandaitet" (Loranthaceae), "ormesigiyoi" or "orkuyainie" (Apiaceae). Lepilal ole Nakuroi: The bark of old trees called "olialao" is used for a kind of"entasimi" called "ushei narok" (ushei means to blow away, to protect) It is used as "entasimi" in "armanet" and to wash a person for cleaning of what has happened in the past.
