Field notes Tree. Maasai name: alasialeki (ilasialek ~ the Sonjo tribe living in Loliono, belongs to Bantu) Used to treat women with pain in the stomach, who have been pregnant 3-4 months to prevent abortion. The pain might be combined with bleding, but not necessarily. Two pieces of bark of a size as an open hand is in 1 1/2 litre water for half an hour or more until it gets red and mixed with a drop of milk or 2 spoones of fat and drunk in accordance to the womens desire. The treatment is continued as long time as pain remains. It is the best kind of medicine for this purpose, eventhourg "osupukiai" can also be used. Wood is very good for construction of beehives, but hard to make and not as good as "altarrapoi", which last longer. Oloirrong'o ole Mayanga, Ilchololik-agegroup, living in Aldarpoi: the best for beehives is "altarrapoi" followed by "alasialeki", "oloponi", "oltimaroi" and "osilalei", but also "alchani oibor la ambala" and orpopong'i can be used. Is aware of that "arnga'aboli" from the highland is used, but is not available in the lowland and therefor not included among the preferred species.
