| Field notes | Herb. Maasai name: engaisiijoi oosirkon (engaisiijoi ~ something with sourish taste, isirkon ~ donkeys). Is eaten by donkeys. Smashed tuber is mixed with red soil, called "arkaria", and used to colour leather. It can be used dry and is of the same quality as "engasiijoi" for colouring of leather. |
