| Field notes | Shrub. Maasai name: engammai ekishu (small), alammai ekishu (big) (inkishu ~ catttle). Fruits are eaten by everybody. Decoction of root taste a bit sweet and is used to make the milk go further, called "olomelok" and drunk by children and women. The red decoction of root and steem is mixed with meatsoup, as it disolve fat, but hasn't any meicinal function and is not used at meatcamps. It is without specific taste. Used for construction of wall in the huts and for fence around the boma. |
