| Field notes | Shrub, flowers and fruits are red. Maasai name: alamuriaki (big), engamuriaki (small). Used for fence around the boma. Fruits eaten by children. Decoction of 2 pieces of root 20 cm long and as thick as 2 fingers is is boild in 1 litre of water for c. 1/2 hour and suit for 2 persons. It is drunk for all "kind of gonorrhea", is best for veneral gonorrhoea. The root can be used twice and the treatment might be repeater for two following days. The decoction is clear and without specific taste. It is mixed with soup made on a goathead, if available else mixed with a little milk. It is considered as a good medicine, but not as good as seed of "olodwai". |
