Maasai name: osoket Decoction of roots is used to treat all kind of "gonorrhea", 10 pieces, 25-30 cm long and 1 cm thick is boiled and mixed with meatsoup to get 1 litre, which suits for one person. Soup made on head and hooves is best. The treatment is repeated morning and evening and continued for the next 5 days if improvement take place. The next days the decoction of the roots is drink mixed with milk, either a lot or just a drop to change the colour. Decoction can be made twice on the same roots, it doesn't have any colour or taste, but a caracteristic smell. "osoket" is preferred rather than "orkilau", because it isn't bitter and it is possibly to continue to drink it for a period. It is also used drunk as tea, then the amount of root used is lesser and more milk is added. |
