Field notes Maasai name: olekimojik (irkimojik ~ fingers) Dry root grained and used to a "sweet entasimi" by "oloiboni" to secure a positiv answer on a request. It is not used together with other species. The "entasimi" is licked four times from a small bag of goat-skin and the salivery is spitted in the hands and smeared on ones face and stomach, before making the request. Used in circumcision ceremony. All beads are removed before circumcision and and lowest part of petiole of this plant is weared in a string of "oldupai" (Sansevieria sp.) around wrist or ankle while the circumcied is "esipolio", which end when the wounds are healed. Saningo ole Nakuroi: Used for "entasimi" for women who can't get pregnant. In accordance to "oloiboni's" advice, which can be as follow: A few leaves of "engaiteteyai" (Commelina spp.) and "ormisigiyoi" (Rhus natalensis) is boiled mixed with four fingertips of "entasimi" made of the rhizome of this plant and milk in the same amount as for "olomelok". It is drunk two or four days or the decoction without milk is used for bath, then only one day. The rhizome is tied around the neck and wrist on the first of three days of the preparation for circumcision. "Entasimi nyorrie" made of "orkokola" together with "nyorrie" (growing close to Lake Eyasi) mixed with honye beer is the best to secure a good agreement on a quarrel. Shall be used in secret, as one part of the conflict wish to defend his own interests strongly and not be calmed down by this. Rhitzom of "olekimojik" can also be used together with "ormogongora", but is not as good as the former. Can also be used just placed in the mouth, while talking. Further "entasimi" of this plant is used for protection against "oloirobi" among people. Four fingertips of the "entasimi" is mixed with water and milk in a buffalo horn, which is surrounded with "engaiteteyai" (Commelina spp.) and "ormisigiyoi" (Rhus natalensis) and "eng'onongoi" (black beads). "entasimi" used to tie to increase the number of cattle. The"entasimi" is used together with air-roots of "eriteti", long hairs from tail of the cattle, butter is sewed in a piece of leather from a healthy animal to make an arm ring weared bo the owner of the cattle. The "entasimi" can also be given to eat to everybody in the boma to increase the number of cattle. Everybody from the boma drink of it. "Entasimi" made of the rhizom can be sniffed to treat headache, but is not commonly used. Olootaosirwa ole Mako, oloiboni living in Piaya: The rhizome is used for a yellow "entasimi". It is used to prevent quarrels during discussions of conflicts, as it keep the discussion cool. The person, who went to the "oloiboni" mix in secret the "entasimi" with the brewed honey beer or alcohol, which traditionally is served to the people, who are invited to discuss and solve conflicts. Meshuko ole Mapi, oloiboni, nkidong'i-clan, living in Buti close to Makuyuni: The rhizome is used for "entasimi". It is good for treatment of women, who can't get pregnant. Strings of leather or "olduvai" is tied around their wrists and ankles and the women is tied to a tree with those strings. The "oloiboni" cuts the strings and the women bathe with a decoction of "armandaitet" (Loranthaceae) mixed with "entasimi" of this plant, the purpose is to clean before further treatment, which follow the advises obtained from the "enkidong'". "Ormogongora" and "osinandey" are often used in the further treatment. People with "oloirobi" or cursed persons use a decoction of "olkiloriti" mixed with "entasimi" of this plant to make a Turkish bath by covering themselves with a blanket, while sitting above the hot medicine. To increase the number of cattle, the "entasimi" is burned in a fire, called "olokor", so the cattle can breathe in the smoke.
