Field notes Herb. Maasai name: engaisiiyoi Children chew the steem. The smashed root is used to colour the skind red. It is used for the shirts made of three goatskind, after it is decorated with beads andhas been soften in water and strenghten on the ground once again, a root as big as a knotted hand is smashed mixed with red ocra, called "orkirria" and the skind dries with the mixture. Afterwards the skind is treated twice with fat and rubbed after being placed outside to get dew to get soft. "engaisiijoi" is only available in the highland, while "orbukoi" is used in hte lowland. Root is grained and dried and stores in a small calabash by "oloiboni" to make "sweet entasimi" a kind called "entasimi oyareta" (oyareta ~ small stream), by "oloiboni", this kind of "entasimi" can only be made of "engasiiyoi". Use unknown, it is a secret of "oloiboni". Meshuko ole Mapi, oloiboni, mkidong'i-clan, living in Buti close to Makuyuni Root is used for "entasimi" to treat women, who can't get pregnant. Strings of leather or "olduvai" is tied around their wrists and ankles and the women is tied to a tree with those strings. The "oloiboni" cuts the strings and the women bathe with a decoction of "armandaitet" (Loranthaceae) mixed with "entasimi" of this plant, the purpose is to clean before further treatment. The "entasimi" can be sewed in a small leather container to wear as a amulet in a string around wrist or neck. The "entasimi" is used sole in the amulet. Olootaosirwa ole Mako, oloiboni living in Piaya: It is a minor "entasimi", which can be used to light a little fire for the calves.
