| Field notes | Subshrub, aromatic. Maasai name: osinandey Bark of root is boild, mixed with fat and smeared on the clothes as parfume, when the warriors leaves meatcamp. Dry grained bark of root. used for "entasimi". It can be used as tealeaves. William ole Seki: Women place it around neck when going to consult "oloiboni". It is placed in the gate of the "oloiboni", so people pass under it when enter. ole Nakuroi, Ndeyan: Mostly used by women together with "ormogongora". It is used for "entasimi" given to women, who can't get pregnant. The "entasimi" is used to make two lines on a goat from the nose to the tail one on the back and one along abdomen and two lines at each side of the mouth. The goat is slaughtered the day after arrival to the "oloiboni" and the skin is blessed with honey beer and cut in pieced to bracelets, which the women wear around the right arm. The leaves are sued to bless women and laced in the neck after blessing. Warriors used the stem with leaves as perfume necklace after meat camps. Meshuko ole Mapi, oloiboni, mkidong'i-clan, living in Buti close to Makuyuni: Bark on root and inner bark is used for "entasimi" to treat women, who can't get pregnant. Strings of leather or "olduvai" is tied around their wrists and ankles and the women is tied to a tree with those strings. The "oloiboni" cuts the strings and the women bathe with a decoction of "armandaitet" (Loranthaceae) mixed with "entasimi" of "arng'aboli" (Moraceae Ficus), the purpose is to clean before further treatment, which follow the advises obtained from the "enkidong'". Entasimi of "ormogongora" or this collection are often used in the further treatment. Olootasosirwa ole Mako, oloiboni living in Piaya: Help women to easy their delivery. Roots are boiled together with "engaiteteyai", "arng'aboli", water and milk. It is used when the women starts to bleed and continued for four days. The root is used for "entasimi" to treat women, who can't bear. It is prepared together with "engaiteteyai". |
