Field notes Growing where a spring starts. Maasai name: embarrwai (small), arparrwai (big) Rachis used for construction of wall in huts and slats in beds. Used for brush to wash calabas. Pinnae plaited to a headband used by newly circumcied boys and girls, and weared when they are "esipolio", which they are undtil the wound is healed. The boys tie feather from differents birds to the headband and girls strings with beads.
