Locality Ngorongoro Conservation Area, 2 km south of Endulen village, along Emborrkwai river in riverine forest. Information given by Mepalari Mushumbay, from Arusha Mwarusha-tribe, 40 years, has lived in Endulen 20 years, is owner of many beehives.

Field notes Tree. Maasai name: ormuto Lepilal ole Nakuroi: Used to stop diarrhea, one of the hightest estimated, even though not as good as "alchani lenkashe". The medicine can be made of roots or bark and prepared in different ways: Three pieces of root 20 cm long and 2 cm thick or 2-3 pieces of bark as big as an open hand are boiled in one litre of water until it change to a darkred colour, of which 3/4 litre is drunk. It can also be extracted during a cold night, either a handful of the innerbark on root or a barkpiece as big as an open hand in 1/2 litre and drunk in the morning before eating. Last preparation is the best. Extraction is very red The treatment can be repeated morning and evening, and if improvement take place then continud the next day, else something else is tried.
