| Field notes | Tree. Maasai name: enkinyei (small), orkinyei (big) Decoction of bark of root is mixed with milk and drunk for "bone gonorrhea". Half cup is used to mix with a litre of honey beer for 12 hours. It can also be extracted in water and stirred for 3 seconds in 1/2 litre of water. It is bitter. The medicine makes the body scratch a bit and provokes a bit diarrhoea. It can be used at meatcamps if one feels like. It is not as good as fruits of "olodwai" for "bone-gonorrhea". The darkred decoction of root mixed with meat soup, both in and outside of meatcamps. Leaves used as table at meatcamp, as the leaves don't stick in the meat. |
