| Field notes | Shrub. Maasai name: embere epapa (~ spear of my father) or olomei The tick stem are chewed and sucked by herd boys. Used to avoid "tieing" rain. One end is placed in the ash and the other end is pointed in the direction of the clouds to direct the rain away from a place with ceremony, meatcamp or slaughtering, where rain will disturb. |
