| Field notes | Tree 4 m high, flowers cream Maasai name: eng'wong'wenyí (small) orng'wong'wenyí (big). Decoction of root drunk as tea. The red-brown decoction of bark and root is given to women, who has given birth. Bark of growing trees are used as strings in the construction of hut. Inner bark is chewed by herd boys as it is sweet. Not as good as bark of "olchurrai" and "elerai" as it can give one's breathe a bad smell, particularly avoided by warriors, as the girls might dislike it. |
