| Field notes | Tree, severely damaged by fire 6 months previously. The colction is the first regrowing shoots. Maasai name: elawou (small) alawou (big). It is the best kind of wood to make arrows and bows of, as it is easy to make straight and is a bit fxib. Wood is used as uprights in huts. Oloirago ole Mayanga: Very good wood for "eloom" (poles) used for the roof)as it is straight, resist fire well and doesn't get delicata, when it gets wet as "osupukiai" does and is therefore better for "eloom" than this. |
