Field notes Maasai name: ereteti (small), oreteti (big) Holy tree for the Maasai. Used to kindle new fire at circumcision and "olokor" a fire made for the cattle to increase their number, where "entasimi" is burned so catttle breathe in the smoke and all women collect a firestick from this fire and carry it to their hut. Fruits eaten by children. Saningo ole Nakuroi, Ndeyan: The inner bark is dried and grained to for "entasimi" used to burn in a fire, called "olokor" to increase the number of cattle with firewood of "armagirigiriani" (Verbenaceae, Lantana trifolia), "oseki" (Boraginaceae, Cordea ovalis), "olorrien" (Oleaceae), which have a nice smell. Women, who can't get pregnant wear the "entasimi" in a small leather container around the neck as a amulet. The "entasimi" i eaten by women. Oloirago ole Mayanga, Aldarpoi: Strings of bark and bark of roots are used for perfume as necklace or to prolong the warriors hair.
