| Field notes | Young leaves taken at the stage when they may be used to make "Panama hats". The green margins are removed and the white central part are dried white still at- tached to the stipe. After that they may be dyed or used right away. The hats are made between 5 and 7 in the morning as the fibers may not be too dry during the work. 1,5 leaf is necessary to make one hat. |
