| Field notes | Palm. Stem solitary, 1.3m tall, diammeter c.1m (including persistent leaf bases), diammerer 0.2-0.25m (without leaf bases). Leaf 1.85m; no true petiole, pseudopetiole 0.42m. Leaflets, 2x80, quadrifarious, dark green, very stiff and sharp. Terminal leaflet 24x1.4cm, apical leaflets 21-24x1.4-1.8cm, median 24x2.4cm, basal 28x2-2.4cm. Acanthophylls, 2x13, folded orange-yellow, very sharp, 4-14cm. Female infloresences upright, c. 8 present. Prophyll papery, short, splitting twice between margins, c.24x5cm. Peduncle 30x1.3cm, yellow-green. Rachillae, c.50-60, in irregular horizontal whorls, 11-30cm long. Flowers mostly in upper 1/2 of rachilla. |
