| Field notes | Robust tree palm to 20 m. !7-20 leaves in crown, lowermost dead and pendent. Stem: 12 cm diameter, internodes very short, scars not visible. Leaf: palmate, 340 cm long including 140 cm petiole, hastula to apical segment tip 180 cm, hastula to lateralmost segment tip 110 cm, c. 90 segments splitting to within 30-130 cm of hastula, tips of segments held stiff not dropping, hastula 1 cm, petiole very lightly along margin, more heavily armed when juvenile. Ligule: rusty red, fibrous. Inflorescence: dead, 3 main axes within common prophyll, each 120 cm long, each with 5 partial inflorescences |
