| Field notes | Terrestrial or epiphytic shrub mainly from one stem which may be 5 cm in diameter & to 3 m tall. Inflorescence pendent at anthesis; rhachis & pedicels pale yellowish-green; floral bracts & bracteoles pale yellowish-green; floral bracts & bracteoles pale yellowish-green suffused with red at the very base, calyx tube dark green, limb & lobes pale yellowish-green suffused with red, corolla carnose, dark pinkish-red with lobes purplish-black within, filaments & anthers golden-yellow; connective white; fruits turning purple.
