| Locality | Quininde Cantón. Bilsa Biological Station. Mache Mountains, 35 km W of Quinindé, 5 km W of Santa Isabel. Premontane wet forest. Collected along the Cube river, 30 m upstream from main pathway to where Humberto Alcibar used to live (NE corner of reserve). Another tree was seen next to Humberto's old house on the top of the hill. |

| Field notes | Tree, 19 m tall. DBH 47.5 cm. Base of petiole enlarged and subwoody. Leaf blade to 55 x 21 cm. Inflorescence a terminal panicle to 35 cm long. Petals 5, valvate, dark purple on inside and greenish purple on outside. Stames 5 yellow with apical pores. Fruit a capsule. Flowers preserved in alchol. |
