| Field notes | Terrestial herb. 1.5 m. Base brown, leaf sheaths green, ligule green, petiole green, and leaves dark green with light green underneath. Inflorescence arising from the ground rhizome, near or c. 3-4 cm or more from the base of the leafy shoot or occasionally produced in cluster of 4-5 at the end of the bulb-like rhizome; peduncle bracts pale white, sterile bracts red but occasionally with green shade, fertile bracts and bracteole pale to mild red, calyx red, petals red; labellum plain red, elongated, frilled margin; anther pale red, stigma dark red. Fruits black purplish-red or greenish red. |
