Field notes Terrestial herb. 1.2-1.7 m. Base brown, trailing rhizome; leaf sheaths green, ligule green with blunt apex, petiole green; leaves dark green to light green underneath. Inflorescence arising from the trailing underground rhizome, 4 cm from the base or anywhere between two shoots; peduncle bracts pale pale white; involucre loose, sterile bracts very mild red to red apexes, fertile bracts and bracteole mild red, calyx very light red, petals red; labellum white with reddish margin and apex, frilled margin, apex deeply bilobed; anther mild red, stigma pale red. Fruits obovate, rectangular flat-top, deeply fisured, dark burgundy; seed globose, pale white, yellowish fleshy arilus.
