Deciduous tree 12 m, dbh 35 cm; bark thin, brown, with scattered, spine-tipped tubercules on older parts of the trunk; main inflorescence axis blackish-very dark purple; pedicels, calyx dull greenish-brownish; standard dark maroon outside, red inside; wings upper 1/2 dark purple-maroonish, lower 1/2 & keel light yellow; anthers light brown filaments light green; leaves dropping, blades dark green |
