| Field notes | [X Cleistocactus/Espostoa]. Arborescent, 3 m tall. With definite trunk and about 100 distal stems. Bearing conspicuous wool and hairs from previolusly flowering areoles. With some buds and withered flowers (several buds opened a few days later on a cut-down stem and were added to the collection). It is evident that this is a hybrid between Espostoa lanata and Cleistocactus neoroezlii. The plant resemble the last species in statue, but the flowers are intermediate and the floral areoles are conspicuously hairy. Flowers: Hairs white. Bracts with black apex. Sepaloids and petaloids red. Anthers cream. Filaments and style white. Liquid material available at AAU. |
