| Field notes | Stem succulent, to 1.5 m high, forming bushes composed of hundreds of erect, freely branched stems with a candelaber-like basis. Sap white. Stems 1-1.5 cm wide (by the end of the rainy season), mostly 8-winged. Capsules red (only a few plants have a couple of fruiting branches). Locally very abundant, but absent in many other parts of the Catamayo Valley. |
