| Field notes | Arborescent, 12 m high. DBH = 40 cm. Trunk 3 m high, spiny. Flowers (2 flw. collected at 4 pm a few hrs. before anthesis) 7.5-8 cm long. Tube 2.2 cm wide, 1.8 cm high, 5 cm long, slightly flattened, strongly ribbed, dark green. Podaria to 25 mm long. Petaloids white, to 25 mm long, 11-12 mm wide. Style 42-45 mm long. Stigmas 11-12, 8-11 mm long, white. Filaments to 22 mm long. Fruits unripe. (Numerous additional flowers of this particular individual were collected on January, 20. 2001 and added to the collection). Then the plant had 30 flowers and several hundred buds in all sized). |
