| Field notes | Forming groups on sandy slopes. Each group (clone) commonly of some 10 creeping to ascending or suberect stems. Branching at base and above. The base of old plants usually withering. Flowers 1-5 per stem, appearing near the apex, 5-7 cm long, showy, of various shades of red to almost orange, more or less zygomorphic. Fruits 1-3 cm wide. This collections is based on flowers and fruits collected from several individuals. (Note: The species grows abundantly at 2000-2200 m a.s.l. on both sides of the Rio Leon. It flowers profusely at this time of the year). Liquid material available at AAU. |
