Field notes Low creeping bush, branching from below, lesser above, 30 cm high, in dense scrub erect to 150 cm high. Stems 1-2 (-4) m long, 5-6 cm thick. Ribs about 9-11, forming hexagonal protuberances separated by groved ceases. Areole oval, white to greyish. New spines nearly black with yellowish to reddish brown basis, getting whitish to greyish white with darker tips. All spines radials, widely spreading. Fruit oblong-ovoid, greenish to brownish.
