| Field notes | Tree with trunk, 5 m high and more. Stems very long, a little candelabrum-shaped below, soon nearly erect. Trunk 10-20 (-30) cm in diameter, 50-100 cm long. Spines black, reddish at basis. Flower (one flower, a little withered) 7.5 cm long. Outer tepals brownish violet, darker toward the tips. Inner tepals lighter with greenish edges, dark violet at the tips. Style pale below, else flesh-coloured. Stigma-lobes, anther and filament flesh-coloured. Fruit brownish violet. |
