| Field notes | Columnar, mostly simple, more or less erect. Stem 50-150 (-200) cm long. Ribs (6-) 7-9 (-10), with V-formed ceases above the areoles. Flowers 6-8 cm long, red to orange. Limb oblique, 4-5 cm wide, 3-5 cm high. Receptacle-tube covered with greenish bracts, greyish to blackish hairy. Stigma-lobes 7-9, green. Filament violet. Anther violet. Nectar-chamber yellowish with much nectar. Fruit globose, 3-4 cm in diameter, light green to brownish. Flesh of fruit white. |
