Field notes Single or forming prostrate groups. Stems 50-150 cm long, green, light green at apex. Ribs 8-9, with V-formed ceases over the areoles. New spines mostly reddish, often yellow at basis. Flower about 7 cm long, a few at a time, orange red. Limb, oblique, about 3 cm wide. Style white. Stigma-lobes 8-10, yellowish green. Filament white, turning violet toward top. Anther violet. Nectar-chamber pale. Ovule chamber whitish.
