| Field notes | Tree, to several meters high. Stems greyish green. Ribs about 7, about 0.5 cm wide and 2 cm high. Areole brownish, borne sunken. New spines dark, getting greyish white with dark tips. Central spines 1-3, spreading in all directions. Radial spines widely spreading. Fruit oblong, 5-6 cm long, about 2.5 cm thick, green, getting red when ripe. Flesh of fruit white. Areoles on fruit brown, with numerous spines, decidious. |
