| Field notes | Up to 2 m high. Joints oblong-ovate, to 35 cm long. Spines 1-2, about 1 cm long, white, with darker tips, caducous. Flower 8-9 cm long, orange. Tepals 3 cm long. Ovule-chamber 2 cm long. Style about 3 cm long, white. Stigmas 7, pale yellow. Filaments yellow, reddish basically. Anthers yellow. |
