| Locality | A little village near Cuenca. The land near Cuenca is today cultivated, so that the earlier natural cacti are difficult to find in the wild state. Many cacti are used as hedge plants or grows near the roads. |

| Field notes | Plant 1 m tall (not full grown), 3-5 cm in diameter, 14-17 ribbes. Spines about 20 short ones and a few larger (2 cm ). The spines are yellow, but partial striped in bands yellowish brown. Flower carmine. Fruit 3 cm in diameter, a little flattened, yellowish green. |
