| Field notes | Plant 1 m tall or less, 5 cm in diameter, ribbes 8, darkgreen. Spines about 15, all long (about 2 cm), one or a few longer, 5 cm, whitish grey, new spines are dark (yellow at the basis). Flowers about 6 cm long, orange red. Style green. |
